The Big Picture

I haven't blogged in a few days, so I thought I would do the proverbial "I've got nothing to write so I'll link" post.

Pictures can speak louder than words, and a confronting or beautiful image can draw you to a story much faster than a catchy headline. This blog, The Big Picture, is the news in pictures. Check it out, subscribe and enjoy. It'll take 6.4 seconds out of your day.

do you reckon this is lazy? do you reckon it panders to our laziness?

i'm not saying that the pictures aren't beautiful (they are) or that you need words to tell a story (you don't), BUT what this says (and what we further) is 'if there's no picture, i don't wanna know about it'. this is why (one reason) perhaps so many war crimes and tyrannical regimes and child abuse and domestic violence and environmental disasters and famines and so on go unnoticed - there isn't a photographer there, there isn't a photo, therefore there's no story.

just throwing that out there.

BUT what this says (and what we further) is 'if there's no picture, i don't wanna know about it'.What says this? My post, or the picture news that I linked to? I don't think either says it.

If people are lazy though, and more tyrranical regimes are going to go unnoticed unless there are photos, I would suggest the solution is more photo journalists over telling people not to be lazy.

So you may be right in saying that people only want photos, but I don't think we can change that by telling people not to be lazy.
